Why Stakeholders Want Sale Of 700MHz Spectrum To MTN Reversed

Stakeholders in the nation’s telecom industry have described the recent sale of 700MHz spectrum by the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission (NBC) to MTN Nigeria as illegal and have called for its outright cancellation.

According to the stakeholders who are made up of staff of other major telecom companies and investors in the telecoms industry, the NBC has neither legal nor statutory right to make such sale, a mandate they said belong only to the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).

They allege that MTN Nigeria used underhand means to get the NBC to approve the sale of the 700MHz spectrum to them under controversial and non-transparent circumstances which did not follow due process and does not comply with the Communication’s Act 2003 as well as the Procurement Act 2007 both of which states that such assets should be sold through a competitive bidding process.

Stakeholders argue that MTN got the spectrum under the guise of a digital television transmission (DTT) licence when the real intention was to use it for their broadband services; clearly a deceptive means to bypass the legitimate process of bidding and access the spectrum before the agreed date to the detriment of other telecoms operators.

Reacting to the on-going controversy, Mr Uche Chukwukere, a Lagos based telecom investor called for the cancellation of the 700MHz spectrum sale to MTN by the NBC. “The licence should be withdrawn. In fact, the officials of NBC who approved the sale should all be arrested because NBC has no right to assign spectrum to a telecommunications company. That is the job of the NCC,” he stated.

Finally, I am delighted that the anti- corruption wind finally blew away Emeka Mba, former DG of the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission (NBC) who was shown the exit as President Buhari’s broom strives to cleanse our system.

This brings me to this question, was the NBC sale of the 700MHz spectrum licence to MTN legal and transparent? The sale of the licence was one of the most clandestine sale of a national asset of such strategic value.

Apparently the sale process was not advertised publicly, neither was it auctioned through bidding and unlike NCC, the NBC is not a telecoms regulator so one wonders how the broadcast regulator could determine what a fair price would be for a spectrum meant for the telecoms industry.

Isn’t it questionable for NBC, which is clearly struggling with its mandate to meet the target set for the Digital Transfer, to then sell the same 700MHz spectrum it was mandated to free up to MTN despite the fact that the rest of the telecoms industry has been standing by and waiting for NBC to switch to digital broadcasting and release the very scarce spectrum to the NCC?

Following the outcry on the illegality of this deal, the EFCC swooped on the DG of NBC, Emeka Mba, for allegedly operating a secret account into which about N17 billion funds belonging to the commission were lodged.

Truth be told, Mr Mba has staggered from one allegation to the other. For example, a petition against him by some contractors and broadcast license losers alleged that the process of awarding contracts and issuance of licenses by the Commission were not transparent and also breached due process. They had written to the EFCC to complain about underhand dealings in award of licenses and contracts.

Need I say more? The whole thing is a fetid, sordid mess. I hope the EFCC get to the bottom of it.

I’m going to give you a simple guide on how to disable automatic OTA updates on your Android devices. Infinix hot 2 has actually given a lot of individual headache, heartache and moneyache but don’t worry, I’ll make this guide simple and easy for none techy dudes.

Requirements
==>Make sure you device is rooted… You can see guide here on how to root your device in less than 5min
==>Download disable services from google play
Once you’ve ensure you have the above in place, then you can go ahead with the steps below

Steps
1. Launch the application you downloaded “disable services”

2. Click on system tab
3. Scroll down to Google play services and click on it. You’ll see lists of google play services

4. Scroll down to SystemUpdateService>>> Tap it and wait..

5. Grant disable service Super User priviledge by tapping grant.
6. SystemUpdateService should now be unticked and in red, meaning it is disabled 

You can then return back to your home screen and never expect any further OTA updates on your Mediatek Android devices. But note that if by any means you want to update to the latest OS, you’ll need to unroot your device, then download the OTA and install.

I've been able to deduce lots of problem and solutions from the Infinix hot2 and Infinix hot note complain threadand I discovered that the listed questions are more paramount to a newly or existing Infinix hot 2 users.

It's important to note that Android One interface is different from normal android interface therefore you do not expect the same functionality like coming with a default music player, video play, file manager etc.

It's also important to note that if you don't set up your gmail on Infinix hot2, you'll only do less from that device, therefore it is compulsory you set it up.

Sol: It always shows error, because you have rooted your device,  do this;
Reload your OS using this link and SP Flashtool. The new OS is more easier and beautiful than than the stock OS.

The problem is with the xui android lollipop ROM considering the fact that it is still on beta level. Hence, the only solution will be forcing the update via recovery...

--Boot your Infinix hot note phone into recovery by turning off the phone and then, press and hold volume + and power button together till the device turns on
--Press and hold the volume up + power button again and you should be fully booted into the recovery menu.
--Use the volume buttons to Apply update from cache>>>Select System_Update and choose update.zip
--Wait until you get installation from cache complete, reboot system and you are good to go.

Sol: Go to playstore, download Mx player/vlc player or shuttle around quick pic

==>Infinx hot2 doesn't have HSDPA: Alot of infinx hot2 users believe this lies because it shows 3G doesn't mean it doesn't have HSDPA.
Sol: Go to Setting >>> About section, and you’ll clearly see where it is shown. The phone has HSDPA. But if you need to be able to see it reflected as an icon in your status bar, you can explore more by rooting your device, install Xposed Framework and Gravity Box, then set it up to write H+ on the status bar.

Sol: go to playstore and download ES file explorer and you are good to go.

==>My infinix hot2 battery run down easily
Sol: It run down easily even though the battery capacity is not large but some background apps are draining your battery. 
Always log off facebook application if not it will drain your battery. Hybernate application your are not using by installing greenify from Playstore.
